THE FAVOURITE KIDNAPPER

Image
So I decided to allow this whole 'Evans' story to take some back stage before saying my piece. Not that it is important but it's my brain and my hands, and from a recent episode of spongebob square pants, i was reminded that i control my brain. Anyways, an alleged billionaire kidnapper was nabbed a couple of weeks ago by the Police Force. I was not moved by the story of his arrest initially but i simply removed my 'hairdress' for the Nigerian Police Force. Not until i stumbled across pictures of some brainless men with wives and kids at home who look up to them, taking pictures with the alleged kidnapper. Then i thought of how an upcoming kidnapper caught in the act would be treated, we can all picture headlines about the kidnapper undergoing some explicit beatings in the hands of his "nabbers", yet this one keeps on changing clothes and speaking English. So his dear wife got interviewed and pleaded on her loving husband's behalf and the soft ...

CAMP DAY 2: BORING BUT PAINFUL

Slept in darkness and to balance it, woke up in darkness also. Like it's said, to every ***fortune, there is a blessing in disguise. So my new room requires you to bathe in the open, toilet also somewhere open too, so I woke up early and did so. As one ready to take part in the daily activities, I left early for the training ground, minutes before they chased us out.  The morning drills began 5 sharp, the mind was alert but the body was still asleep, so I was a step backward to every command. I guess this was a general problem over the years as a long morning exercise was conducted, it was full time fun for me. This was right after we were taught the scheme's anthem and also after recitation of the National Anthem (when Buhari wakes up). Today I found out what is called NYSC Bread, that Agege bread, this bread ehn is as small as 3 slies of bread. Anyways that was our breakfasts part of part of the package. Lunch was not so better as we were served my normal Belleful Amal...

CAMP DAY 1: STRESS AND SACRIFICE FOR NIGERIA

Nights are meant to be composed of sleeps and a time of the day designed to bring our dreams alive virtually. My first night on camp was quite the opposite, for some strange reasons, my mind chose to stay fully active hence making my body to suffer the consequences.  Observed people started bathing around 2:00am(supposed early ‎risers), unfortunately my bed is in a relationship with an early riser, so I had to just go and bathe by 3:00am. So it was all year 1 mentality again on the registration ground as registration meant to start for 7:00am had people on the ground for 3:00am. I went back to bed, I cannot come and kill myself. 6:30 officials came out to introduce and brief us. And then the line was scattered, the spirit within laughed at them. Some how, the joke was on me as I stood from 5:30am till, whereas the early risers finished way before me. On getting to the front of the que for documents registration, I was sidelined again, cause of sje didn't believe my Unila...

NYSC JOURNEY: LAGOS TO ISEYIN, OYO

So I woke up with so much enthusiasm. I have not been out of Lagos before and I have been at home for way over 6 months, the longest ever since I gained admission into school. Bag packed, and fully set, I left the house and rode in style to the park at Fatai Atere, Mushin, thanks to Uber. On getting to the park, I was the only person left to fill the cab, I felt like a long lost prince who came to set his people free. Only no heroic shouts and riding on horse and waving like the Queen. Little did I know that I was about to have the longest ride of my life. 4‎  hours in a Mini bus with my luggage in between my legs and on my laps felt like a journey to to the ends of the earth. My bones weren't happy with this, so they made me hate myself for it by hurting my butt cheek. Apart from the journey being pretty long and quiet, no one to start conversation with, so had to find solace my the taking note of the fast moving structures, unfortunately an interstate journey in Nigeria means...
